Destination Wedding Photographer

Authentic Documentary Wedding Photography Worldwide

If you’re planning a wedding away from home, you don’t just need someone who travels, you need an experienced International and destination wedding photographer who understands how to tell a real story in unfamiliar places. I photograph destination weddings around the world using a documentary approach, capturing genuine moments, human connection, and the atmosphere of your day as it naturally unfolds. No staging. No performances. Just honest photographs that feel like your memories. From European beauties like Lake Como, the Amalfi Coast and Mykonos to a Christmas fairytale in Toronto and beyond, I work with couples who care more about experience than perfection, and who want their wedding photos to remind them how it felt to be there, wherever in the world it takes place.

What Is a Destination Wedding Photographer?

A destination wedding photographer is someone who specialises in photographing weddings that take place away from a couple’s home country or region, often involving travel, unfamiliar locations, and multi-day celebrations. But the difference isn’t just geography. A great destination wedding photographer understands how to:

👉 Adapt quickly to new environments

👉 Work confidently in unfamiliar venues and cultures

👉 Tell a complete story without relying on rigid plans or poses

👉 Capture moments authentically, wherever the wedding takes place

You can't under-sell the importance of experience when it comes to photographing destination weddings. But 'experience' comes in a couple of forms. Knowing your photographer has experience working abroad brings a huge amount of confidence and trust, and it's that experience that allows you to relax and stay present, soaking in every bit of your destination wedding adventure, knowing your story is being documented properly.

But there is another side to 'experience'; the experience you have as a couple with your photographer is just as important. Maybe even more so! If you have the right person with you, someone you trust, someone who can fit in with your vibe and your friends and someone who will enhance the experience you have while you're with them, then you're onto a winner!

"Oh guys! Even just your email had me crying before we even looked at the photos! We both sobbed the whole time going through the gallery first time around, and our faces hurt from smiling and laughing so much the second time. They're just so beautiful and more than we could ever have imagined! We cannot thank you both enough! We just want to do it all again!! Honestly you're just the best!!"

Hey, I'm Matt

how's it going?

If someone had told my younger self I'd one day get to travel the world with my cameras, spend time with some truly amazing people and call it 'work', I'm not sure I'd have believed them! But here we are. And I have to say, life as a destination wedding photographer is pretty damn amazing! Being a part of any wedding is a special thing, and the connections I build with my couples are always so meaningful, but sharing a destination wedding adventure really hits different.

Whether it's the powdery sand of Mexico, the Christmassy streets of Toronto, the rugged Amalfi Coast, or the calm waters of Lake Como, the memories you make there with your most special people will last forever. And I can't tell you how much it means to me that I get to share that with my couples.

My approach is pretty much the same as any other wedding (schedule and timeline allowing) and I will always give you the space to go and spend as much time as possible with everyone else you've asked to be there. You put a huge amount of trust in someone when you're asking them to travel around the world to document your wedding day, and that's something I'll never take for granted or fail to deliver on.

There are no time limits when it comes to a destination wedding, I'm there for as long as you want me there. I think there is a lot of peace of mind to be had knowing I'm just going to be there, with and for you, until the job is done.

But here's the truth. If you're planning a destination wedding and you're interested in having me along for the ride, you don't just want me, you want Jess as well. You want Ceremony!

My Approach to Destination Wedding Photography

Honestly it's a pretty simple one. I am a documentary wedding photographer which, for you, means you get to go and spend the overwhelming majority of your time in the mix with your family and friends, and I'll be in there with you, capturing all the hugs, the emotion and the joy. I'm all about letting the story unfold naturally, while being your #1 hype man, being right there when you need me and invisible when you don't.

My approach works especially well for destination weddings, where couples often want to spend time with their people, explore their surroundings, and enjoy the experience rather than step away for loads of staged photos. Yes, we'll still step away for some portraits and group photos (if you want them) but your time will be spent enjoying your crowd and soaking in the views and the atmosphere.

and across Europe and the UK

Each destination brings its own rhythm, light, and atmosphere, and my role is to respond to that environment rather than impose a formula.
